HelpMeChat privacy policy

Your choice

AI processing is off until you give consent in extension settings. You can turn it off or clear all local data there. Upload only conversations you have permission to share. Suggestions are for you to review and paste; HelpMeChat does not automatically send messages.

What is processed

With your consent, selected excerpts from text exports you upload, participant and display names, your derived communication profile, preference hints, and messages from the conversation open on WhatsApp Web are sent through our Cloudflare-hosted gateway to OpenAI to build a profile and generate reply suggestions. Suggestions can refresh when the open conversation changes. The gateway uses encrypted HTTPS. No provider API key is included in the extension.

The extension stores your profile, settings, consent, anonymous session credential and suggestion preferences in Chrome local storage on this device. Uploaded export files are read locally; selected excerpts go to the AI service. Local storage is not Chrome sync storage.

Server records and retention

The gateway does not store chat bodies, AI replies or profiles in its database, and Worker request/body logging is disabled. It stores hashed anonymous session credentials, hashed network IP identifiers, session expiry and generation counts, daily network counters, and aggregate spending reservations to prevent abuse and enforce preview limits. Sessions expire after 30 days and expired records are removed on later signup activity. Old daily network counters are removed on later signup activity. Aggregate spending records remain to enforce the total cap. Clearing local data removes the local credential, but does not immediately delete server counters.

Cloudflare processes network information while serving requests and may keep operational/security information under its policies. OpenAI processes submitted content and replies. We do not opt in to training or data sharing; API data is not used for model training by default. OpenAI may keep abuse-monitoring logs containing prompts and replies for up to 30 days, or longer where law or service-safety needs require. We have not enabled Zero Data Retention. Clearing local data does not erase those provider logs.

Use and sharing

Data is used only to provide the communication assistant and protect the service. We do not sell personal data, use it for advertising, track unrelated browsing, or add analytics. Transfers to Cloudflare and OpenAI are necessary for the features you consent to use. Service providers may process data outside your country. Legal disclosures may be required by law.

Free preview

The public preview includes 3 AI generations per browser session, including profile setup. Failed attempts count. Shared network limits and an overall spending cap also apply. Clearing local data does not bypass server/network limits. Service can stop when preview credits run out. There is no paid subscription in this version.

External links and deletion

AI-provided links are unverified. Remote media previews do not load automatically; opening a link takes you to that site's own privacy policy. To remove your local profile and settings, use Clear all local data or uninstall the extension. Contact the support address above for privacy requests; provider-held records remain subject to their policies.
